Already
1992
This project, a doubling of Marcel Duchamp's Etant Donné, (1946-1966), was conceived as a commentary on the return of the literalized body (realist sculpture, etc.) to art in the early 1990s. In Already, Duchamp's non-literal female figure is transformed into a maid serving the spectator who has to peer through a peephole to see her, a museum bench, and a glass of wine on the gallery mantle. (Plywood barrier, peephole, mannequin, bench, wineglass, mantle)
